HEHE. and so i got back my results on thurs. that's before rushing to work night shift, which was so TOTALLY anti climax and i really din't know what i was doing at work when i should be celebrating like nobody business.

:)))

HEHE. this whole year was just...greaT :))...even better than the first..

first year in school.. i worked really really very hard! as i was disappointed in going sim and not local uni..however..i depended alot on my own strength..and very soon, found myself quite stressed up..also stopped going church weekly about one two months before exams.. (which may be the reason why i was stressed)..

so when the results came out..well it was oki!not bad..mostly 60++, but by the effort i put in, it was really abit disappointing, cos i was like studying every single minute of time when not playing with john. it was then that i realise, i can't do it using my own bare strength. i need more than my own strength, maybe some divine strength from above.

and so this year, my resolution for the year, is to be more spiritual, and surrender all to God!I need Him, i know i can't do supremely well with my own strength...to do more than good or above average, i need Him! aND WOW what a difference it madE!:)...

not only i was less stressed, spent lesser time studying compared to first year(of course i still worked hard la!), rested more by watching tv and sleeping and online..went to church weekly before exams(even when time was running out already and i can't finish studying ...but i believe that by sowing time in His house, i will be blessed!:)...tWO best thing that happened in the year was,

1. i made friends with people that i dunno like everywhere i go.this is really abit freaking but ya!! somehow they are all super nice and helpful and lent me useful notes that aid me in my exams. JUST WHEN I AM IN NEED OF THE NOTES AND HELP. one even asked if i wanted his handphone number, so when i need help i could ask him and he can help me. OOMG. another one lent me stacks of answers that was like totally rare and unavailable to ppl. some continuously sent to my hotmail, lecturer's notes that was uploaded and disappear easily cos the lecturer take down very fast. AHHH and ppl around me was wondering why i always so lucky and meeting such helpful dudes..

2. I managed to squeeze in time to teach my friends before exams. LOL i dunno where the faith came from but i just felt that i am sure God don't wan me to just study my 3 years away a mugger without helping anyone in school..sO HEE. yea... but the point was..i actually had time to do all that!!! at the same time attending church regularly. and making time to teach like 3 ppl 2weeks before exams+ successfully motivated 2ppl to not give up in their studies and chiong the last lap+ helped a few more throughout the year..

and so, when the results was out..and they passed their subjects relatively well judging from amt of time left for them to study, i feLT sOO happy for them!!:)...it was a great feeling..like a sense of fuifillment..i am happy i got that FEELING from nowhere that i shld help them..and i am sure many around studying with me will agreee how come all those things i studied days before, always seem so ZHUN and come out.
:))...bLESSED.

and on top of that..TADAHH..my results.it was really beyond what i can ask for, and i am really thankful to God!!:)...this year had indeed been great, when i relied on Him..all things seemed to work well, and i managed to achieve so much within the same amount of time. :))

Hey all!

Haven't been blogging anywhere for quite a while coz I've been working.

But want to take this time to say a few thank yous to God. =) God has been great to me as of late.

Just about a day or two back, I received a letter from NUS asking me to go for an interview for Nursing course. As many may have known, my grades for A levels weren't that spectacular, so when the letter came, my jaw literally unhinged. But of course, this doesn't mean that I will definitely be accepted into the course either. But God is great to give me an opportunity to be optimistic about university entrance! =D

Apart from that, I've also started working the past few weeks at Yamaha, Plaza Singapura. Yes, although working hours are a bit obscure, like 1 - 9pm on Mon, Tues & Fris and 10am - 6pm on Sundays, the job gives me flexibility to run around to sing with my choirs, but yet have a source of income as well. =)

God has been answering my prayers for 1) letting me find a job while able to do what i love to do, and for 2) possible university admission.

Praise the Lord! =D

whheeE! got something i wanna thank God for..which is his grace upon my life..=)) loll as many knows, i started my job 2 weeks ago in boon lay as admin assistant in Human Resource department..and so was really quite shocked when my in charge asked mi on wed..if i want to continue working in uni days(aug)..also said something like by then(or maybe coming june).. maybe can cut contract with agency already..which = to more $$!~ =D..

=)))

hahah!!cos everyday before i go to work..is actually abit worried abt being "not alert"..so will pray..and is realli happi abt this unexpected sudden trust on me from the i/c. Indeed God do unexpectedly great things. =))

Blood Donation @ Siglap South CC

Went to donate blood with Meifung and John today. For the both of them, it was their first time donating. There were lots of doubts and fear but after much persuasion, both decided to take a step of faith to donate. There were some hiccups along the way over a missing IC but overall, it was a good experience for both of them. Both commented that it was painless experience! For those who have yet to donate, what are you waiting for?

But the bitter truth we critics must face, is that in the grand scheme of things, the average piece of junk is more meaningful than our criticism designating it so. Last night, I experienced something new, an extraordinary meal from a singularly unexpected source. To say that both the meal and its maker have challenged my preconceptions about fine cooking is a gross understatement. They have rocked me to my core. In the past, I have made no secret of my disdain for Chef Gusteau's famous motto: Anyone can cook. But I realize, only now do I truly understand what he meant. Not everyone can become a great artist, but a great artist can come from anywhere. It is difficult to imagine more humble origins than those of the genius now cooking at Gusteau's, who is, in this critic's opinion, nothing less than the finest chef in France. I will be returning to Gusteau's soon, hungry for more.

Chalet 2007

Our last chalet for the year was over in a blink of an eye. Special thanks to Fanella, Jasmine, Shihui, Jill and Meifung for all their efforts and many thanks to them for taking time out to prepare and plan out for the games! Many thanks to all who also took time out specially to come for the prayer meet the first night! If you have missed the whole duration of the chalet, you have missed out on all the fun and laughter, the magic tricks, the trading game, and lotsa other activities.

One of the first major problem that we face is SPACE! Maybe next time round, we should have 2 chalets! Hehe.

The Baseball Hero

At a fundraising dinner for a school that serves learning-disabled children, the father of one of the students delivered a speech that would never be forgotten by all who attended. After extolling the school and its dedicated staff, he offered a question: "When not interfered with by outside influences, everything nature does is done with perfection. Yet my son, Shay, cannot learn things as other children do. He cannot understand things as other children do. Where is the natural order of things in my son?"

The audience was stilled by the query.

The father continued. "I believe that when a child like Shay, physically and mentally handicapped comes into the world, an opportunity to realize true human nature presents itself, and it comes in the way other people treat that child."

Then he told the following story:

Shay and his father had walked past a park where some boys Shay knew were playing baseball. Shay asked, "Do you think they'll let me play?" Shay's father knew that most of the boys would not want someone like Shay on their team, but the father also understood that if his son were allowed to play, it would give him a much-needed sense of belonging and some confidence to be accepted by others in spite of his handicaps.

Shay's father approached one of the boys on the field and asked (not expecting much) if Shay could play. The boy looked around for guidance and said, "We're losing by six runs and the game is in the eighth inning. I guess he can be on our team and we'll try to put him in to bat in the ninth inning."

Shay struggled over to the team's bench and, with a broad smile, put on a team shirt. His Father watched with a small tear in his eye and warmth in his heart. The boys saw the father's joy at his son being accepted. In the bottom of the eighth inning, Shay's team scored a few runs but was still behind by three. In the top of the ninth inning, Shay put on a glove and played in the right field. Even though no hits came his way, he was obviously ecstatic just to be in the game and on the field, grinning from ear to ear as his father waved to him from the stands. In the bottom of the ninth inning, Shay's team scored again. Now, with two outs and the bases loaded, the potential winning run was on base and Shay was scheduled to be next at bat.

At this juncture, do they let Shay bat and give away their chance to win the game? Surprisingly, Shay was given the bat. Everyone knew that a hit was all but impossible because Shay didn't even know how to hold the bat properly, much less connect with the ball.

However, as Shay stepped up to the plate, the pitcher, recognizing that the other team was putting winning aside for this moment in Shay's life, moved in a few steps to lob the ball in softly so Shay could at least make contact. The first pitch came and Shay swung clumsily and missed. The pitcher again took a few steps forward to toss the ball softly towards Shay. As the pitch came in, Shay swung at the ball and hit a slow ground ball right back to the pitcher.

The game would now be over. The pitcher picked up the soft grounder and could have easily thrown the ball to the first baseman. Shay would have been out and that would have been the end of the game.

Instead, the pitcher threw the ball right over the first base man's head, out of reach of all team mates. Everyone from the stands and both teams started yelling, "Shay , run to first! Run to first!" Never in his life had Shay ever run that far, but he made it to first base. He scampered down the baseline, wide-eyed and startled.

Everyone yelled, "Run to second, run to second!" Catching his breath, Shay awkwardly ran towards second, gleaming and struggling to make it to the base. By the time Shay rounded towards second base, the right fielder had the ball ... the smallest guy on their team who now had his first chance to be the hero for his team. He could have thrown the ball to the second-baseman for the tag, but he understood the pitchers intentions so he, too, intentionally threw the ball high and far over the third-base man's head. Shay ran toward third base deliriously as the runners ahead of him circled the bases toward home.

All were screaming, "Shay, Shay, Shay, all the Way Shay"

Shay reached third base because the opposing shortstop ran to help him by turning him in the direction of third base, and shouted, "Run to third! Shay, run to third!"

As Shay rounded third, the boys from both teams, and the spectators, were on their feet screaming, "Shay, run home! Run home!" Shay ran to home, stepped on the plate, and was cheered as the hero who hit the grand slam and won the game for his team.

"That day", said the father softly with tears now rolling down his face, "the boys from both teams helped bring a piece of true love and humanity into this world".

Does spiritual growth just happen? By Rick Warren

Many churches act as though spiritual growth is automatic once a person is born again. They operate with no organized plan for following-up new believers and no comprehensive strategy for developing members to maturity. They leave it all to chance. They assume that Christians will automatically grow to maturity if they attend church services. All we need to do is just encourage people to show up at meetings and the job will get done. Obviously, this isn’t true.

Spiritual growth doesn't just happen once you're saved, even if you attend services regularly. Our churches are filled with people who’ve attended their entire lives, yet they're still spiritual babies. Spiritual growth must be intentionalSpiritual growth is not automatic with the passing of time. The writer of Hebrews sadly noted, "... though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you the elementary truths of God's word all over again." (Heb. 5:12)
Millions of Christians have grown older without ever growing up.

The truth is that spiritual growth requires a commitment to grow. A person must want to grow, decide to grow, and make an effort to grow.

Discipleship begins with a decision. It doesn’t have to be a complex decision, but it does have to be sincere.

When the disciples decided to follow Christ they didn’t understand all of the implications of their decision. They simply expressed a desire to follow him. Jesus took that simple but sincere decision and built on it.

Philippians 2:12-13 says, "... continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you to will and to act according to his good purpose.”
Notice that it says "work out” - not "work on” - your salvation. There is nothing you can add to what Christ did for your salvation. Paul is talking about spiritual growth in this passage to people who are already saved. The important thing to note is that God has a part in our growth but so do we. We must make an intentional effort to grow.

Becoming like Christ is the result of the commitments we makeWe become whatever we are committed to - without a commitment to grow, any growth that occurs will be circumstantial, rather than intentional. Spiritual growth is too important to be left to circumstance. It needs to be intentional, not incidental.

Spiritual growth that leads to maturity begins with the kind of commitment described in Romans 6:13: "... give yourselves completely to God - every part of you - for you are back from death and you want to be tools in the hands of God, to be used for his good purposes.”
Spiritual growth is not a private matterSome of us hesitate to commit ourselves to developing an intentional plan of growth for our members because we believe spiritual growth is a personal and private matter. Rather than interfere, we choose to allow each person to develop in his own way at his own rate.

This is an aberration from the truth. The idolatry of individualism has influenced even the way we think about spiritual growth. So much of the teaching on spiritual formation is self-centered and self-focused without any reference to our relationship to other Christians. This is completely unbiblical and ignores much of the New Testament.

The truth is that Christians need relationships to grow. We don’t grow in isolation from others. We develop in the context of fellowship. Over and over again in the New Testament we find this basic truth: Believers need relationships with each other to grow!

Hebrews 10:24-25 says, “Let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds. Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another ….” God intends for us to grow up in a family.

As I've stated several times in this column, the most significant growth toward maturity we've EVER seen at Saddleback was during 40 Days of Purpose. In those 40 days, we baptized 671 new believers, added almost 1,200 new members, and increased our average attendance by 2,000. Those 40 days transformed our church and mobilized our members in ways we never dreamed possible.

The ABC's of Jesus' Small Group Strategy

When was the last time you watched a movie at home with your family and a few friends? Did you call the church office to decide whose house you would go to? Did you ask your pastor who to invite?

Probably not!

If you are like most people, you just drove over to your local video store, checked out a movie, and called a friend or two. If that's the case for most Christians, then why do we go to so much trouble signing people up to get into small groups and matching them with a small group leader?
I realize this may be a new idea, but ironically it better follows Jesus' model for forming his own small group community with the 12 disciples. First he spent time with a number of "Christ followers" getting to know them and discerning whether they would be the ones he "asked" to join his own group. Then the Bible says he prayed overnight to confirm if they were the ones, and then the next day he simply asked them to come with him.

The model follows a simple A-B-C plan to not do your life alone, but to do life together in community with a few other friends and family. Discover the ABC's of Jesus' small group strategy:

A - Ask God who he wants you to connect with. Reflect on the fact that this is not about a 40-Day journey but a simple intentional step. Jesus gave us the example of a healthy balance of alone time to pray and meditate, but also a clear call to do ministry and life together with others.
Think about your lists in life. An obvious one is your cell phone list. Look at your contact list. Scroll through and pick up a few names. Don't forget your address list, Christmas card list, sports team list, PTA list, neighborhood list, school list, on and on.

Take these lists and consider who you would enjoy getting together with for six weeks. Make it a time of prayerful reflection as you seek who God would have you "call to community."

B - Begin calling the three, five, eight or twelve names God gave you. The beauty of this model is that it's not a matter of "if," it's a matter of "when" you are going to do it and "who" you're going to call. You've taken care of the "if" by saying you want to grow like Jesus did.

Be willing to call the names that God gives you. Look for people who are teachable and want to grow, or others who are seriously seeking. You want people who want to be there.

Start with two or three. These groups don't have to be big; they just need to begin with a man or woman of faith - not seminary professors or pastors, just a few friends. The Scripture says "Where two or more are gathered" (not 22 or even 12 like Jesus).
Pray for the names on your list. Get others, such as a pastor or church staff member to pray with you.

C - Check out the curriculum you can use for the six weeks series.
Visit Purpose Driven Life Small Groups Resource Page and find a curriculum that suits your group's growth level. There is a wealth of resources available here for a group and for training as a leader. What's important is getting together a few people who will commit themselves to a group for six weeks and make it happen. Chances are, those few weeks will lead into more and pretty soon, they won't want to quit! You will find that the curriculum isn't as important as the fellowship and shared life together. Just get started; God will take care of the rest!

Updates From China

I'm now finally in Shanghai, with better Internet connections and able to share pictures with all of you. Unfortunately, somehow or other, I am unable to access the actual E190 blogspot, so I can't leave tags! But here are a few pictures for the time being. Will update my blog when I get home! :)

Sun's Beijing Concert

This was the stage for Sun's Beijing concert. It's really cool to see the entire stage being set up in a matter of days. But the workers were faster at tearing down! They tore down the entire stage in an hour... If only they'd worked as fast in the beginning haha... :)

Train Ride to Shanghai

We took an 11-hour train ride to Shanghai from 8:02p.m. on Friday to 7:22a.m. on Saturday morning. We shared little cabins on the train with 4 bunk beds per cabin. Each train carriage had 10 cabins, and our entourage alone took up NINE cabins. It was a fun night of fellowship with some people absorbed in their PSPs, some watching DVDs, others playing bridge and board games... I also took time out to visit the cafe in Carriage 9 together with some of the others. It was a rocky ride, but at least I got about 5 hours of rest that night.

Shopping & Eating in Shanghai

Before going to the venue (our call-time was 2:00p.m.), some of the Media (TV, Sound, Chorus Board) people went shopping and eating. As you can see, we are having a good time. But it wasn't enough to prepare us for the shock to come!

The Unfinished Stage

We reached the concert venue (a few blocks from our hotel) to find the stage in THIS condition, at 2:00p.m. the day before the concert. Over the next few hours, the workers made little progress, but at least we managed to test some of our Media systems. Still, we spent most of our time helping out in the stage design for a particular 'S' shape. More details when I get home. :) We were tired & frustrated at the lack of progress. By 8:30p.m., 6 hours later, there was still little change in the stage. How?!?!

Steamboat Dinner

We decided to go for dinner and relax. It was a good dinner, and a good time of relaxation.

WHAT'S NEXT??

Our technical crew will be going down to the concert venue in the wee hours of this morning to inspect the progress and test out the systems. In the meantime, I will not be called to the venue yet as they will help me test the system. It will be a long day ahead, with about 18 hours left to the start of the concert.

Please continue to pray for us, that we will have the strength to pull through the day. Some people, like Henry & William, will probably be working through the night, so please pray that the grace of the Lord might be upon them. Pray for Sun, that her voice will open the people's hearts and her testimony will touch them. The concert tickets have all been sold out, so we're expecting a good crowd. :) Thanks for all your prayers, and I'll see you guys soon!

The main highlight dish must be the Assam Fish Head.

For $18, it's worth every penny. However it tastes more like curry fish head rather than assam-flavoured. Word of caution: Please drink lotsa water after the meal. It's rather 'heaty!' I would recommend their MaMa drink to go along with this power-packed dish.

Yesterday's CGM was refreshing. Sometimes, it's good to slow down, take a 'stock check' of our spiritual man and go back to the very basics - first love. Oh ya, a big thank you to Kelvin for the 'perishable' gift. Hehe. After CGM , we decided to walk down to Chinatown for our fellowship. Under Wendy's recommendation, we decided to have something light - porridge.

After cg fellowship @ Bedok, we decided to head down to Cathay to catch a late night Saturday Show - Ocean's Thirteen.

I would recommend you to this third in the Soderbergh series following the 2004 sequel Ocean's Twelve and the 2001 film Ocean's Eleven if you are a fan of Stephen Soderbergh. Mai tu liao! Go and watch!

After sending Wendy and Qi-en home, we decided to drop by at Yio Chu Kang to grab our supper.

Happy Father's Day

Today is Father's Day. When Pst Derek called for fathers to stand up during yesterday's service, it dawned upon me how special the moment was to me ... that I am already a Dad! The CG gave a little surprise for me yesterday and prayed for me.

Marriage has changed my life. Now that I have become a Dad to my precious and beautiful daughter, Macy, it changed my life even more. From Sher's pregrancy to delivery, it was not an easy experience. There were times when both of us were outside nd she would throw up all of a sudden in the middle of the road. How unforgettable! Our gyne is Dr. Foong, who delivered Pst Kong and Sun's Dayan too. He is strict but yet experienced and encouraging gyne.

This is Sher's journey to deliver our much anticipated baby. We had waited for 9 months to see how our little girl would look like!

Almost 6 months old ... splashing time!

These 6 months have been memorable for us as first-time parents. Everything was new to us and we had to trial and error in taking care of Macy. I have to juggle between work, ministry and family life. She developed colic and took up alot of our energy in trying to sooth and calm her now. The CG can testify how loud she can cry during our CGM! Many nights, we can only slept when it was as late as 2 to 3am. I have to wake up early at 6.30am to prepare for work and returing home in the evening to help Sher. Yes, we are tired but the joy of seeing Macy grows day after day give us the strength to go on.

I really thank God for such an understanding and patient members in helping us and especially during those times which I am unable to avail myself for some outings. Guys, you are the Best and I can think of another words to describe you more!

Tau Huay @ Short St

Today's service was held at hall 1. That will be the venue for our service for the next 3 weeks. Starting to miss Hall 8. Anyway Pst Kong preached a powerful message on marketplace disciples. I think we should do something about our cg too!

Anyway after service we decide to travel far for our cg fellowship. After asking through, we decided to go to Short St there to eat Tau Huay.

As usual, we have to wait for a few before embarking on our journey to the center. While waiting, we decide to take some photos.

While waiting, Qi-en came up with the ingenious plan of traveling to Short St by taking a bus to Tanah Merah and then a train down to Dhoby Ghaut. Since it was such a brilliant idea, we all agreed to it and hence the journey to the center begins!

Like the journey to the West, our journey to the Center met with a slight hiccup. We realized that we did not have dinner, therefore we decided to make a detour to PS to have our dinner. Kelvin joined us for dinner together and left shortly after. But I discovered something interesting in the midst of the dinner. Someone was actually tired from all the traveling.

Managed to grab a photo of her waking up. Haha.

Anyway, we managed to regroup and continued with our journey to the center.

We had a hard time taking orders but after much struggling, we managed to order our food. Our 班组 decided to treat us!

Dear All,

This is my first time contributing in this blog.. Actually i am kind of a newbie in blogging as well, as I seldom have the luxury of time to do so. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you for your hard work and sacrifice for the past 3 months. I know that it has not been easy for some of you guys.

This is my 3rd year involved in helping SIM/SMU cluster in POS. I would say that every year is really a different experience. I have seen people becoming more confident and open up more after POS.

This year is really special because:

1) we have more people that know how to dance

2) we came in 1st last yr (so the pressure is definitely higher this year)

3) this will the last POS for some of us

I would like to thank people like Wenfu and Davin who have been in POS since 3 years ago. I remember starting out then with no experience at all. The first year was kind of disastrous. But, the 2nd year was good and I believe that this year will even be better!

I believe that all of you have gained alot in these past 3 months.. Many of you came into this with no stage and dance experience, and I have seen you guys improving. It really reminded me of the time when I started dancing just 3 years ago. I know that it is not easy for some of you.. Having to endure long hours of training, as well as demanding warm-ups from me. I really do not know whether you will ever dance again after this POS. Or maybe some of you have begun to love dance. Whatever it is, I just want you guys to know that in life, everything is really about having Faith in the Lord + working really really hard!!

I remember 3 years ago when I attended my very 1st dance lesson. I had just ORD-ed from NS and had nothing better to do so I decided to learn some new skills. I went straight into a dance studio and bought a 20-classes package. I remember being the only guy in my first Hip Hop Intro class. I felt so embarassed and could not catch a single step. I told myself after the class never to go back again. However I realised that I had paid almost $200 for the dance package and because of that, I forced myself to attend 2-3 classes everyday. When I attended my 12th class, it was Ryan who was conducting the lesson. When I saw the way he danced, the passion in his eyes when he executed the steps, I was so impressed and convicted that I told myself I was going to train seriously in dance for the next 1 yr. From that day onwards, I made a decision to work very very hard. During my first year as a dancer, I trained up to 3 hrs everyday doing the basic steps and technique exercise over and over again. It was really not easy, I had many disappointments and there were times when I cried at night. However, I never gave up.

It was during that one year that I learned alot as a newbie dancer. My passion in dance grew like never before. It is this passion that led me to set up a dance club in SIM - DreamWerkz - and Ryan was our instructor. I also had the privilege to dance at the Indoor Stadium with the first instructor that taught me dancing. That year, I also became a member in the Dance ministry.

However things did not just stop there. My passion for dance made me want to know and learn even more. I began to explore dance styles such as street jazz, jazz and broadway. During my 2nd year in dance, I reached a point of stagnation. There were times when I could not breakthrough, it was really a difficult period. I received alot of encouragement and guidance from my mentor, Ryan, during this period of time..

My 3rd year as a dancer was one of the most exciting periods. I began my teaching career. The first group of students that I taught were from Tanglin secondary school (and I still teach them today). This is where I found my passion in teaching dance. I formed an 8-guys hip hop team and they managed to win in their first competition, and win another few times within the next few months. It is this passion in teaching that led me to set up my own company, DreamWerkz Pte Ltd. With the Blessings and Grace of God, DreamWerkz Pte Ltd has begun to teach more than 5 schools, such as Tanglin Sec, ACS(Intl), Compassvale Sec etc within the first 3mths. I also have the priviledge to travel to Taiwan and Japan to dance with Ryan, as well as my good friends from O school such as Daniel. It was really a great experience.

Till today, I am still learning and there are still alot of things I do not know. I believe that in order to succeed, there is no short-cut.. We have to work really really hard.

Friends, I just want to say that nothing is impossible in the eyes of God. I was just a ordinary guy with not much purpose 3 years ago, with almost zero cents in my pocket. Never did I expect God to bless me with a Company 3 years later, and also grant me many financial blessings. I believe Emerge'07 will be a time of breakthrough as well as Fulfilled Dreams and Visions for many of you!

Chalet 2007

Reached the chalet quite late - Monday 3+ pm. (If you want to find out what happen before that, maybe you can read Shihui's 5th June entry to get a more in depth update.)

Went there with Jeffrey. Suppose to meet Yongtian's friends at 4pm. As we reached there early, some of the guys decided to engage in illegal activities. LOLx. Here's the evidence!

Anyway the game was interrupted by a police raid! Anyway, Tian's friends arrived shortly after and we walked over to the Pasir Ris Beach for soccer. With closed to 0.1 ton weighing on my weary legs, I struggled to get into the rhythm at all during the game.

Shortly later, obeying the cries of my body, we decided to end the game and trek back to the chalet for the bbq.

The rest of cg members turned up as the time for the bbq approaches. Many friends turned up and had great friend interacting.

Before a short praise, we had a mini-intro session and played Charade Level 2000. We had great laughs, but there was no photo from me, cause I left the camera in the chalet. *sobz*

After the praise, Eugene and Jasmine shared about the friendships in the cellgroup and we celebrated Geo's BD!

We had a number game after that - 金库密码 with a twist.

Later at night, we decided to play mahjong stacko. It was pretty amazing at the tower that we 'built'. Here's the finale structure before Kevin's itchy finger did the demolition work.

The next day, some of us after checking out decided to go to Wild Wild Wet. With the four complementary tickets, each of us had to play only about $3.20 to get in (inclusive of locker charges). We stayed there for 4 hours plus. Originally, we had intended to stay there for 2-3 hours but after a while, we were high on the rides and decided to stay there longer.

STUDY: 'BIOLOGICAL REALITY' BEHIND THE EXPERIENCE

Critics deride it as fake, but new research shows that something authentic happens in the brain when someone speaks in tongues.

In 2006, a University of Pennsylvania team headed by Andrew B. Newberg found that the frontal lobe area of the brain usually associated with language skills and willful control of the body slips into low gear when someone engages in this form of ecstatic prayer.

"Our findings are very consistent with what people say they are feeling," Newberg says. "That they are not in charge of what is happening and are experiencing an intense sense of themselves in relation to God."

Newberg, a neuroscientist and co-author of Why We Believe What We Believe, a book on the biology behind belief, used neuroimaging to track blood flow to the brain. The study's subjects were five women from the same Pentecostal church. They were measured twice: as they sang a gospel song and as they spoke in tongues.

The scans found that when the subjects spoke, the frontal lobe showed less blood flow and lower activity than it did during the singing.

Newberg previously examined Buddhist monks in meditation and Catholic nuns in prayer. Their brain scans showed that the frontal lobe lit up with more activity the exact opposite of the tongue-speakers.

Still, Newberg cautions against using the study as proof that God speaks to people through tongues.

"It talks about the biological reality of the experience. It does not address whether there is a supernatural reality," he says. "That question is still left open."

When I received my Project Work results last friday... One thought came to my mind... Do you ever notice that, we always reap what others have sown...? For example, we're reaping the benefits and success of our forefathers or even school seniors...

Well, karma might have an adverse effect whereby, others reap what we have sown and we will not reap what we ourselves have sown.

I wonder how many of you will agree with that? Have you ever felt the same way or gone through the same thing?

Life is unjust somehow. 1 person slogging for the whole group and let's the whole group claim credit and getting a B, and receiving no thanks in return.

I guess, that's how Jesus and God feels when we turn our backs on them...

Fanella here again... Will like to take this time to share a quote I found with all of you...

As I was reading this, many things came into my mind, like how true it is. Love can appear in different forms; physical love, caring love, friendly love, sibling love, family love. But what truly is love, is the ability to encompass those around you. To be there for them when they need someone. To be at their side encouraging them when they've fallen. To simply be by their side. Love is simple, at the same time complex. Yes, it may be a contradiction. But I believe that, love is not something that we can really just explain in words. Like for example, the love the God and Jesus have for us... Can we put that just into words? Can we place the extent of how great His love is into words?

That, somewhat I don't think so.

But we can always learn to be as full of grace as He is. Being full of compassion and kindness. That is the goodness within us.

Being Culture Makers...

The whole essence of the Christian claim is that God has not forgotten us — even after the tower of Babel when the “unified cultural project” (Genesis 11:1-9) gets splintered into all these different cultures. Immediately after Babel, God picks out Abram and says, “I will make you into a nation” (Genesis 12:1-3), which is God’s way of saying he is going to make a culture that lasts through time, because the nation is just a culture which is extended through time. “And through you, I am going to bless every nation” — every culture extended through time. So the first reason for my hope is the presupposition that God is already at work in human nature. We don’t have to fix this ourselves. We simply have to find what God’s already doing.

The second thing is that cultural change almost always starts small. And that’s true whether you’re talking about the culture of your local elementary school or a feature film that grosses 200 million dollars. Jesus created culture with three core friends, twelve disciples and a larger following of about a hundred twenty people. The number of people who can fit comfortably in a Volkswagen Beetle can mobilize a slightly bigger group who can in turn mobilize more than a hundred folks. That’s how a cultural good is created. It’s true of the world’s largest corporations, the smallest business or the corner store down the road. So, the question to ask is, “Which group of three people has God put me with and what can we make together that will add something to culture that will reflect what God wants for culture — God’s shalom, his peace?” And that’s the only way it ever changes — when a small group of people create something.

We will all do that on different scales. Some Christians in Hollywood get to be in a room together with others who can either greenlight or kill a new film. But I’m not one of them, so I can’t really worry about what they are doing. But on the other hand I may have some opportunities to sit with small groups of people who really need to have hope and discover God in their midst. And I get to develop some of those opportunities with my friends, too. And Jesus says that those who are faithful with a little end up being asked to be faithful with more. So if you start small and just start with the people God has given you and do it well, you may be asked to do a little more.

Mother Teresa set out from Romania to be a schoolteacher and to care for the sick. She just cared for a few sick people with a few sisters, and over time she got to address the whole world and change how the world thinks about the poor and the dying. She even affected the way the world thinks about the followers of Christ. But she didn’t start out to do that. She just started doing something small with a few people and it grew. So that’s the other element of my hope. I don’t know what I create, how much of it will last, how much of it will have any cultural impact, but I do know that God has given me a few people to be creative with and I also know, frankly, that even if it doesn’t have any great, lasting, measurable impact, it’s just so fun to create things with people. This is what human beings are made to do, you know? So you need to do it whether its going to fix anything or not. If it’s not going to fix anything, you need to do it because this is just what you were created to do. You need to create things with other people.

heLLoOO everyone! the chalet is finally booked! =) after many obstacles and hiking ard pasir ris with shi hui..the confirmed venue is Costa Sands Resort(Downtown East), Date: 3 ,4 June. Check-in time:3June, after 2.30pm, Check out time: 5June, 10.30am.

On the 4th June night, we will be having bbq..so all those who can come..pls come down yea!

some rules and regulations to take note: "A maximum of 4ppl are permitted to stay overnight. The management reserves the right to evict any additional person..No excessive noise is permitted after 11.30pm or they have the right to evict all misbehaving and rowdy guests with no refund of chalet rental." =S waa..they have so many rights! so we must be good there..hahha..

oyes! the room might be a bit squeezy..but nvm, more cosy that way! hahha..those who can bring sleeping bag bRinG! maybe can go sleep at the bbq benches and have star-gazing at night..:) the room also includes a X-box game console ..so those who have games or whatever to put inside and play, bring them! :)
